BIOGRAPHY

Courtney Chamblin is a 22 year old NYC based Filmmaker, Videographer, Director, Producer, Editor, Photographer, and Writer.

A native New Yorker, born in Queens NY, Courtney has always gravitated toward people and their stories, making storytelling her driving force.

Throughout middle school and high school, Courtney began acting and public speaking. She won the 4th national prize in Broadcast Journalism at the Future Business Leaders of America National convention in July of 2019. She won the "Best Actor" award at New York's Hofstra Shakespeare Festival, 2 years in a row, in March of 2018 and 2019. She was also elected the role of State Officer for The New York Thespian Honor Society (2017-2018), a statewide conference, organized by the Officers, for the thespians of New York.

During her college years, Courtney focused on film production and editing as a Communications Media major in and outside of college.  

Courtney produced and edited a web show called Summer Time (2019-2021) with her cousin, Summer Chamblin. The episodes showcased Summer's culinary expertise and lifestyle. The show had upward of 40,000 followers watching on instagram and over 500 subscribers on Youtube. Courtney also edited wrap up episodes of The June and Summer Show (2020-2021) for June Ambrose, creative director and stylist.  The live episodes for this short run had upwards of 1 million followers in total on Instagram. 

Courtney also joined her college's media group, Molloy Life Media (2019-2022) where she became head video editor and producer. She created content "for students, by students" that were posted on the Molloy Life instagram account and circulated on campus television.  At Molloy, she served as the president of the AACO (African American Caribbean Organization). In this role she created support and community for black and caribbean students, and built bridges towards race amity among all the cultural clubs on campus by instituting the very first ALL Culture Fashion Show. This was the first effort in the college’s history where all clubs based on culture, ethnicity, and sexual orientation collaborated on a joint project.   

In 2021, Courtney was granted the opportunity to tour with the off broadway cast and crew of Henry Box Brown A Musical Journey, where she served in the role of a Documentarian and Assistant Stage Manager.

Courtney has directed, edited and produced several documentaries. For her senior honors project she partnered with Bethany House (a homeless shelter for women and children) to raise funds for laptops for the residents midst the covid-19 technology crisis. She started a fundraiser to acquire the money to purchase the laptops and documented the process. She also directed, edited and produced a 35 minute documentary on Molloy College's transition from College to University status as her Senior Communications Media Project. She interviewed the president, faculty, staff and students of the college. Courtney graduated Summa Cum Laude with High Honors from Molloy College, securing a Bachelor's Degree in Communications Media in May of 2022.

Post graduation, Courtney began working as a Producer's Assistant for NBC's Saturday Night Live (Oct 2022 - May 2024).  At NBC, Courtney was able to further learn about film production and how to navigate the professional celebrity entertainment world. Along with working at NBC, Courtney also has a career in freelance videography and production assistance. She has worked with the likes of PUMA, Converse, United Nations and WYN beauty.
